Tree Planting at African Cemetery No. 2: A Lex Grow Trees Event

African Cemetery No. 2 419 E 7th St, Lexington

Thanks to generous funding from Lex Grow Trees, we’ll be planting 45 trees to help increase the area’s tree canopy, enhance biodiversity, and establish African Cemetery No. 2 as an accredited Level 1 Arboretum. Located in an area with one of the lowest percentage of tree canopy cover in Lexington, the 1st District, African Cemetery No. 2 holds a wealth of African American history, much of it connected to the beginnings of the horse racing industry.
